Online English Essay Competition

The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Love Letters’ and we want you to pack them with romance, originality and creativity.The Competition was established in 2008 by Carol Ann Duffy (UK Poet Laureate 2009-19) and has awarded more than £175,000 to writers.Each year two £10,000* prizes are awarded: the Manchester Poetry Prize for best portfolio of poems and the Manchester Fiction Prize for best short story.The winner of the competition will receive £100 and their entry will be published on the website and shared via various social media outlets.The runner up will receive £50 and there will also be two commendations of £25.If you’d like to add any new events please submit the details using the event submission form at the bottom of the page.We appreciate your feedback, so please feel free to message us with any ideas or suggestions.Our focus is on helping people make sounder choices around the way we grow, eat, and dispose of food.We’re soliciting manuscripts and book proposals for eco-oriented books that are both inspirational and a very good read.The anthology of the same name has gone on to sell copies all over the world.The theme for the 2019 competition – Leaving – is intended to be inspirational, not restrictive, so please feel free to interpret it in any way you choose.
