DUE DATES Full Proposal Target Date January 21, 2020 January 20, Annually Thereafter July 20, 2020 July 20, Annually Thereafter SYNOPSIS The Biological Anthropology Program supports multifaceted research to advance scientific knowledge of human biology and ecology, including understanding of our evolutionary history and mechanisms that have shaped human and nonhuman primate biological diversity.

SYNOPSIS The goal of the Archaeology Program is to fund research which furthers anthropologically relevant archaeological knowledge.

In accordance with the National Science Foundation’s mission such research has the potential to provide fundamental scientific insight.

The Program also supports methodological projects which develop analytic techniques of potential archaeological value.

DUE DATES Full Proposal Accepted Anytime Doctoral Dissertation Research High-Risk Research in Biological Anthropology and Archaeology (HRRBAA) December 2, 2019 December 1, Annually Thereafter Archaeometry December 20, 2019 December 20, Annually Thereafter Senior Archaeology July 1, 2020 July 1, Annually Thereafter Senior Archaeology Please note that if a recurring target date falls on a weekend, it will be extended to the following Monday; if the recurring target date falls on a Federal holiday, it will be extended to the following business day.

It also supports projects submitted under NSF-wide competition guidelines.

These include CAREER, EAGER, RAPID and Research Experiences for Undergraduates Supplement requests.

The target dates, as noted above, are July 1 and December 20.

(In contrast to “deadlines”, “target dates” permit leeway as determined by the Program Director.) Each proposal is sent to a set of ad hoc reviewers and is also evaluated together with the other applications submitted in that round by a broadly based panel of anthropological archaeologists.
